Nortel SIP solutions provide a full suite of advanced telephony and multi-media features and feature interactions, including a multiparty audio conferencing service and a powerful, user manageable messaging.  The system operates as a software IP communications solution. It runs on a hardened, pre-packaged Linux operating system distribution (CentOS) and it is designed to seamlessly integrate into an existing Information Technology (IT) environments.
 

Nortel's open source-based SCS 500 SIP communication solutions enable SMB users to remain connected to each other and their partners or customers via their desk phone, mobile phone, software based PC clients or their business applications whether they are in the office, at home, or on-the-road. The solution includes a rich set of services as part of a simple to deploy package enabling users to connect and collaborate in a way that allows them to be most productive. It also enables communications to integrate effectively with an organization’s IT environment, at both the infrastructure and application levels, and enables partners to meet the requirements of users purchasing communications as an application within their overall IT environment.

The Nortel SIP solutions are primarily intended to be a standalone solution, located either at a single or across multiple sites. It can interoperate with standard communications PSTN interfaces via an SIP-PSTN gateway portfolio and can provide SIP security and provide SIP Trunking services via an attached Session Border Controller (SBC).
